Welcome!
I'm a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Philosophy at Western Michigan University. My interests are primarily in the history and philosophy of science and philosophy of physics. Specific topics I am curious about are 17th and 18th century natural philosophy (especially Newton and empiricism), the nature of scientific explanation and realism regarding physical unobservables (e.g. dark matter/energy), and the history of spacetime and gravitational theories. I'm also interested in public engagement in science, pedagogy, and early modern philosophy broadly.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking around Michigan (especially in winter), stargazing, and reading in art and architectural history, especially German Romanticism. I also maintain a small but growing collection of antique telescopes. If you’re considering WMU’s graduate program and have questions, feel free to email me.
